Third flight

Hong Kong to Kathmandu

China - Hong Kong (17.10.2013)

I arrived in Hong Kong on Sunday in early afternoon.
My youth hostel is located in Tsim Sha Tsui in the south of Kowloon Peninsula.
My dorm bed cost three times the price of a dorm bed in China and it is worse.
I took the cheapest one but it's enough to sleep.
Hong Kong is one of the two special administrative regions of the people's republic of China.
It's a big cosmopolitan City (about 7 million people) and everything is expensive.
In the streets, a lot of peddlers tries to sell you anything (watch copies, suits, marijuana, ...).

On sunday afternoon, I just walked around and I waited until 8:00 PM to watch the symphony of light.
This show takes place every evening. There is play of light on skyscrapers with music for 15 minutes.

On monday, I went to Central by boat (Hong Kong island) to admire the skyscrapers.
After that, I went to Hong Kong park to see the aviary where there are over 600 species of bird.
Finally, I walked along the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade.

On wednesday evening, I met the Chinese boy (George) that I met in my youth hostel in Beijing.
He invited me to the restaurant.
After that, we took the Peak Tram to see the skyscrapers by night from Victoria Peak.

Today, I'm going to take my next flight to go to Kathmandu for my trek around the Manaslu.

China - Macau / Macao (15.10.2013)

On tuesday, I woke up early to take the fast boat to go to Macau for the day.

Macau (also spelled Macao) is the other special administrative regions of the people's republic of China.
It was a Portuguese colony from the mid-16th century until late 1999.
Macau is known for its many luxury hotels and casinos.

I walked for 8 hours and I could admire the colonial Portuguese churchs and houses.

For the lunch, I went to the restaurant to eat one of the typical Portuguese dish, the famous "Galinha Africana Picante".
It was delicious.

Finally, in the evening, I went to see the dog racing.

China - Yangshuo (11.10.2013)

I arrived in Yangshuo (northeast of Guangxi) on Sunday 6th of October in the evening after more than 26 hours of local/public transport (train, bus and motorcycle).
I met my roommates. A Danish couple (Lisbeth & Erik) and a girl from Boston in US (Leah).

Monday
We rent bicycles to go from our hostel to downtown to join a girl from Switzerland who they met few days before.
We took the bamboo rafting to go down the Li river for about 1 hour and we stopped in a small village.
The bamboo rafting driver was really lovely. He put some Music on.
We had a quick lunch and we went to the Gold Water Caves to admire the crazy imagination of Chinese people and to have a mud and hot water bath.
After that, we came back to Yangshuo to have few beers on the rooftop of the swiss girl's hostel and cheap diner in downtown.

Tuesday
We rent scooter to have a look to the countryside around Yangshuo.
We went to a tea plantation and they showed us the tea ceremony.
After that, we went to a place where we could jump into the river from a bridge.
Finally, we came back to Yangshuo to see the Impression Liu Sanjie show.

Wednesday
It was the lazy day.
Just have a talk and share our videos.
In the evening, we went to downtown to eat something and few drinks.

Thursday
The night and the day after was so bad.
We were not feeling good.
We probably got food poisoning when we ate in town last evening.
At the end of the afternoon, I went to Guilin by bus.
On saturday evening, I'm going to take my last night train in China to go to Shenzhen in order to cross the border to go to Hong Kong.

China - Chengdu (03.10.2013)

I arrived yesterday in Chengdu.
In the train, I met a chinese girl who was speaking in english.
All the people sitting next to me asked her to translate their questions.
The topics of the questions were about salary, pension, French romanticism, ... .
I answered to the questions for 4 hours.
They also offered me food.

I also met a chinese boy who is music teacher.
He helped me to buy my train ticket to go to Guilin.
He also took me up to my accommodation with his girlfriend's car.
Fortunately, otherwise I would never found it by myself.

My accommodation is located in a building on the 30th floor.
The top view is quite nice.
People who work there are very nice.
They invited me several times to eat with them for free.

Today, I went to the Research Base Of Giant Panda Breeding.
I met 2 chinese boys in the bus to go there.
We visited the Research Base Of Giant Panda Breeding together and we went to the city center to eat something.
They also offered me the lunch.

French people should take example to welcome foreigners in their country.
