I stayed in Santiago 3 days and 4 nights.
My accomodation ("Ventana Sur Hostal") was located in the district of Providencia.
The first day I did the Free Tour of Santiago.
It's a nice and pleasant city.
The second day I went to Valparaíso just for the day to do the Free Tour again.
We mainly visited the Historic Quarter of the Seaport which is part of Unesco World Heritage.
A lot of artist live in this quarter. It's the reason why you can see a lot of wall paintings everywhere. In fact the municipality encourage creativity. So everybody is allowed to paint on the walls.
At the end of the tour we tested typical food of Latin America: "Alfajor" and "Empanada".
It was really tasty.
The Free Tour is free but at the end you have to give a tip to the guide depending how you enjoyed the tour.
It was really interesting because the guide tells stories and anectodes about history of the city.
The third day it was raining so I stayed in my accommodation in order to take rest and update my blog about New Zealand.
Here is a funny story about the coffee in Santiago:
The coffee was not popular in Chile.
So one day a guy decided to invent the "coffee with legs" in order to encourage people to come and take a coffee. It's a coffee shop where the waitresses wear short dress to serve you the coffee.
Another day another guy decided to do better. He invented another coffee shop style with tinted windows where the waitresses are in bikini to serve you the coffee. Several time per day for 1 minute the waitresses are completely nude and dance on the bar. This minute is called "the happy minute". But you don't know when it's going to happen. This is to encourage the people to stay and take another coffee. The price of the coffee is normal but you have to give a good tip to the waitress.
