Argentina - Northwest Argentina (17.07.2014)

From Puerto Iguazú I took a bus to go to Posadas and then another bus go to Salta northwest of Argentina (1444km/23h).

When I arrived in my accomodation (Backpacker's Suites & Bar) I met 2 french guys (Paul & Pierre).
They are students in Lille and they are travelling during few months in South America.
This travel is like a training period they have to do it during their engineering studies.

The first night we went together in the city center to go to a classical music concert given by the symphonic orchestra of Salta.

They told me they wanted to rent a car to visit the north and the south of Salta for about 5 days.
I told them that I was part of the trip.
So the day after we looked for the cheapest price to rent car.

In fact we were 5 because there was 2 girls.
One from Australia (Sami) and one from England (Vanessa).
Sami is a friend of the 2 french guys.
They met her before in Mendoza and Vanessa is a friend of Sami.

We should get a Renault Logan for our trip but there was no battery.
We got a Renault Duster instead so it was much better.
By the way Dacia doesn't exist in South America.
They use the brand name Renault because it's better for the branding :)

First we travelled 3 days in the south of Salta.
We went to Cachi, Seclantás, Cafayate, and Tafí del Valle.
We drove on the famous Road 40.
This part of Road 40 is not really a road but a track.
The sceneries were amazing (snow, mountains, desert).
We went back to Salta for one night and we left Vanessa because she had a flight the day after to go to Iguazú.

Then we travelled 2 days in the north of Salta.
We went to Purmamarca, Tilcara, Humahuaca and San Salvador de Jujuy.
Finally we went back to Salta.
